Cedar Haven Outdoor Bench

This cedar bench has build from reclaimed wood, sourced directly from the client's back yard! We were able to utilize the wood from a tree that had fallen and had been drying for years. It was an amazing experience to bring this wood back to life, and allow the client to have the opportunity to beautify their living space with wood from their own property. 

 

In order to ensure this wood would remain robust for years, it was stabilized with a penetrating epoxy. This epoxy has the ability to absorb deep into the fibers of the wood, providing both structural integrity to the material, and long term protection from the elements. Each round leg was placed on a concrete foot, which when buried remains unseen and acts to separate the wood from the moist/critter filled ground which would try to deteriorate the wood.

The benchtop was flattened using a CNC and an epoxy inlay was added to made this piece additionally unique. Both myself and the client ended up begin very happy with how this piece turned out.

Each piece is built in Emergent Woodworks design studio, tucked within the trees of Carnation Washington.
