The Marksman
This piece acts as a stunning centerpiece to this clients dinning room.
The top is fabricated from a Black Walnut locally sourced in the Pacific North West. After searching though dozens of slabs at my local supplier, this particular slab immediately jumped out at me when I saw its unique geometry. The combination of knots & figure in this piece are stunning when viewed next to the semi-transparent smokey epoxy. The bolt on metal powder coated legs provides an aesthetic that provides a singularly elegant look for this piece.
This magnificent black walnut dinning table exposed a remarkable secret during its construction. As the table was being leveled after the epoxy pour, a glint of silver began to reveal itself. After a few flattening passes, it was evident that someone had used this tree for target practice several years before the tree was cut down, and there were a number of bullets that passed directly through the top plane of the table top.
After construction was complete on this table, three bullets ended up being exposed on the top surface, and one on the side. These present one of the most unique features I have ever seen in a piece, and this client was thrilled to see this unique accent.
