How to Maintain Epoxy Table & Fine Furniture

Now that you have your dream piece delivered, it is good to understand the basics of maintaining the magnificence of your piece. There are a few simple maintenance tips which will help you care and maintain your epoxy table or fine furniture.



  1. Avoid Heat

    Do not place any hot objects directly onto the surface of epoxy. Epoxy has a remarkable resilience to chemicals, but is very sensitive to heat. Even the warmth of a coffee mug has the potential to distort the epoxy surface.


  2. Clean With Care

    When it comes time to clean, use a soft cloth while leaning and avoid using any harsh cleaners. Cleaning with water is preferred but when something stronger is needed, the following product is a gentle cleaner which will help to prevent finish degradation.

  3. Protect From Moisture

    Both wood and epoxy are sensitive to moisture. Wipe up any spills quickly with a soft rag, and do not allow moisture to remain in contact with the piece for long periods of time. It is best to use coasters with both warm or cold cups.


  4. Avoid Direct Sunlight

    Direct sunlight can cause epoxy to yellow over time and cause wood finished to lose their luster. shielding the piece from direct sunlight will help slow the aging process. Regular rotations of a piece will additionally help it to remain looking uniform.

    Tip: UV-filtering window treatments can also help protect your furniture from sun damage.


  5. Protect From Abrasion

    Both wood and epoxy surfaces are subject to scratching from rough or sharp objects. When selecting coasters or trivets, use those with a soft interface to the table, and avoid those with sharp metal feet. The use of place mats under plates will help to prevent wear from the rough lower surfaces of some dinner wear.


  6. Restore Finish

    A restoring finish can be applied to return much of the original look of your piece. These wipe on products are easy to apply and will help extend the longevity of your piece. Pieces finished with Hard-Wax-Oils can be lightly sanded with a 220 grit sand paper to remove remove blemishes and return a uniform look. If this technique is used, it is suggested to reapply the original finish, in place of simply using a restoring finish.
